Who told you history was boring? It shouldn’t be! History is people who experienced life – made mistakes, loved, and sometimes cried. Some emotions are hard to understand these days. We cannot imagine what our ancestors went through to give their families a better life in a new world – no matter if it was The United States, The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or any other country.
These people gave us the freedom of speech, choice, and the possibility of being educated. In XIXth century Poland they did not have that opportunity. Our ancestors’ every day was spent working hard in the field, growing crops and breeding farm animals. Their only possessions were their own hands ready to work.
They did not need much but they wanted to provide a better future for their children.
You could say that this story concerns every one of us. All our ancestors devoted themselves to leaving their home, country, and relatives to give us a chance for a better future. It is our responsibility to pay a tribute to them and truly commemorate their lives so future generations do not forget about them.
